So… Any Questions? Here Are Some Frequently Asked Questions.

who should joiN?

This group is designed for new mothers who find themselves feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally on edge, even when everything appears “fine.” It’s for the mom who lies awake replaying the day, questioning her reactions, or feeling guilty for not being more patient or more present. If you’re tired of feeling like you’ve lost parts of yourself and you’re ready to understand what’s really happening in your mind and body, this group offers a compassionate place to slow down, reconnect, and find your footing again. You don’t need a diagnosis just a desire to feel steadier, calmer, and more like yourself as you move through this new season of motherhood.

What if I'm not a "new" mom, can I still join?

Absolutely. While most participants join within the first year after birth, this group is helpful for any mother still adjusting to her new identity or struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional changes. Because the group focuses on your own reflection and regulation, we ask that babies who are mobile or active not attend so you can fully focus on yourself and the group experience. Non-mobile infants (under about 6 months) may attend if needed.

Is this therapy or a support group?

This is a therapeutic group led by licensed clinicians who specialize in perinatal and women’s mental health. It’s structured, skill-based, and focused on helping you understand what’s happening in your mind and body while learning practical tools for calm and connection.

I’m nervous about sharing, what if I don’t want to
talk much?

That’s completely okay. You’ll never be pressured to share more than you’re comfortable with. Many participants find that simply listening and being in a space with other moms helps them feel seen and less alone.

What if I miss a week?

We encourage attending all six sessions to maintain connection and get the most from the group. If you need to miss one, we understand, we’ll help you stay connected with the material so you don’t fall behind.

How big is the group?

Groups are intentionally kept small usually 6–8 participants, there will be no more than 10, to maintain a safe, comfortable, and connected experience.

What should I expect each week?

Each session includes guided discussion, practical coping tools, and a small take-home reflection or practice. You’ll explore your experiences, learn strategies to manage anxiety and overwhelm, and feel supported by other mothers walking a similar path.

What if I’m already in individual therapy?

That’s great! Many participants find the group enhances their individual work. We encourage collaboration with your therapist if you’d like.

Do you take insurance, or how do I pay?

Yes, we accept insurance for this group. Payment for the full six weeks is collected upfront, and superbills are provided if you’d like to seek reimbursement through your insurance plan. We’ll review your benefits with you before the group begins so you know exactly what to expect.

Dawn, LCMHC-c, brings over 25 years of experience working directly with women through some of the most vulnerable, life-changing moments of their lives. Before becoming a therapist, she spent decades in women’s healthcare as a nurse, educator, and advocate supporting new mothers, grieving families, and parents navigating unexpected challenges.

Her work has included everything from lactation consulting to co-chairing a bereavement and traumatic birth program, to serving as a community liaison for families of infants with chronic conditions. She has sat beside women in their most tender moments, helped them understand what their bodies and emotions were doing, and walked with them through the intense shifts that come with pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Dawn holds advanced training in integrative and holistic nursing practice and is preparing to sit for licensure in perinatal mental health counseling,  a field she entered because she saw firsthand how much support new mothers need, and how hard it can be to find the right kind.

What makes Dawn exceptional isn’t just her clinical training, it’s her lifelong commitment to caring for women with compassion, steadiness, and skill. She understands the emotional, physical, and identity-level changes new moms face, and she knows how to help you feel seen, supported, and grounded again.

You’re in incredibly capable, caring hands.
